A beautiful faded indigo apron from Sapporo. These aprons are still worn all over Japan today. This one is from a big market in the city of Muroran in Hokkaido. The shop was trading in vegetables and called "Miura".

Showa, around 1960

Fabric  

Cotton. All natural dying techniques. Probably rice-paste resist technique.
