Deep Blue Large Boro

480.00

A beautiful, harmonic assembly of around 30 patches that have been stitched together as a light blanket. The side that used to be the outside exudes harmony while the inside is an artful patchwork creation of various fabrics. This cloth has, quite unusually, only one layer, which gives it a marvelous, thin quality. If hung up, sunlight shines through the fabric. Note the different color quality on the pictures.

History

Meiji period, around 1900s. Kawagoe, central Japan.

Fabric

Cotton homespun and hand-loomed. All natural dyeing techniques.

Measurements

184 x 154 cm (note the cut and measures, last picture)

72 x 61 in

0,7 kg / 1,5 lbs

Condition

  • Great condition of fabric
  • Wonderful to display or use otherwise
  • Vivid blue colors and long fabric panels
  • The fabric has been professionally cleaned and carefully ironed to preserve the organic dye

Note

  • Large and clean
  • Beautiful fade of indigo color
  • Displays well from both sides
