Light Indigo Boro Fabric

Highly desirable fabrics such as this one have become rare due to an ever larger demand in recent years. Made from various patches all in indigo blue, this piece is striking because of its flawless condition. The pictures speak for themselves.

History  

Meiji period, around 1860s.

Fabric  

Cotton and hemp, homespun and hand-loomed. All natural dyes.

  • 2,4 x 5,7 ft
  • 0,5 kg
  • 1,1 lbs

Condition

  • Excellent condition of fabric, little to no stains
  • Very light in great condition, can be used without concerns
  • Vivid blue colors
  • Despite its old age, the fabric is free from any musty scent as it has been professionally cleaned and carefully ironed to preserve the organic dye. Using traditional organic methods, tiny repairs may have been made to strengthen the fabric.
